Skiers and snow-boarders can choose amongst the Bichlbach-Berwang linked ski area, the Ehrwalder Alm, the Zugspitz glacier or the Grubigstein. Beginners as well as pros can reach the summit quickly with the Almkopfbahn. The best way to get back down the mountain is via perfectly prepared runs with different difficulty levels.

All told, a ski region with 52 mechanically-aided ascents - very modern cable cars, chairlifts and t-bar lifts - that bring you up to amazing altitudes. 150 varied kilometres of pistes bring you back down. Winter sports enthusiasts will find just the right course suited to their style, speed and skill. Over 100km of cross-country tracks roam through the magical landscape and keep posing new challenges to beginners and pros alike. Apart from the pistes, there are 60km of cleared winter hiking trails, romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides, idyllic natural ice rinks, alpine curling venues and much more. Or, why not take a ride way up high with the Tyrolean Zugspitzbahn. Measuring in at 2,962m, the Zugspitze is the highest mountain in Germany. The border between Austria (Tyrol) and Germany (Bavaria) runs between the western and eastern peaks. The golden summit cross is the destination of many a mountain climber or excursionist. The top of the Zugspitz can also be reached via three cable cars. The first, the Tyrolean Zugspitzbahn in Ehrwald, opened way back in 1926. The base station of the Tyrolean Zugspitzbahn is located in the West at the foot of the Wetterstein massif at 1,225m.
