| Arxontiko tis Ioanna is a single storey property of 93 m2 partially built of stone. The villa has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, kitchen with a dining area and open fire place. The villa can accommodate up to six people. The house itself dates back to the late 1800's and has been the home to the noble woman Ioanna, which of where the name of the villa origins. Retaining many of the original features the property has been furnished and decorated in a traditional Cretan style. This will allow you to have the comfort of modern living and also experience a little of Crete's history and culture. On entering the property there is a small hallway, off which is the first of the bathrooms, the hallway then leads into the living area. This is separated from the kitchen by a small wall containing a serving hatch. Bedroom No.2 leads off from the living area whilst the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom has access from the kitchen. Both of the bedrooms have doors that lead out to pergola covered terraces. Externally there is a very pleasant court yard of mature plants and trees -a perfect place to sit and relax during the long, warm summer evenings. Also situated in the courtyard for your enjoyment is a Jacuzzi/hot tub, and a staircase leading up to the roof terrace witch is perfect for sunbathing. Internally the house has been equipped to a high standard and includes such features as air conditioning, central heating, fully fitted kitchen and for your entertainment a home cinema system. The sofa in the living room folds down to provide extra sleeping accommodation. The villa is situated in the heart of Pigi village, only meters from the village square. Pigi is a traditional working village that has changed very little over the years. Although close to the tourist areas it has retained its character and offers all those who visit it an opportunity to experience the true Cretan lifestyle. Wandering around the narrow streets of whitewashed houses you sense that you have stepped back in time. To time when life was so much more relaxing than today. For all its natural charm and beauty, Pigi is well equipped to cater for all its visitors. There are two mini markets, a pharmacy, butcher, bakers and two tavernas who serve traditional Cretan food. Buses for the town of Rethymno pass through the village every hour. The village has easy access to both the local beaches and the highway, making traveling to either of Crete's airports very easy indeed. |
